Trout Fishing On The Isle of Skye
Updated: Apr 15
The Trout season has now officially opened for the 2021 season on the Isle of Skye.
This year's opening was eagerly anticipated by Skye anglers, not least due to lockdown making winter feel much longer than usual.
Luckily the weather conditions on the day where good, albeit a bit cold. Despite that, the fish where in the mood and a good number where caught around the Loch.
I was able to put together this short video with the help of a friend, showing off some of the fantastic surroundings we have on Skye for fishing - hope you enjoy it.
Trout Season & Booking
The season for Brown Trout runs from the 15th of March, through until the 30th of September. The Rainbow Trout season also starts at the same time, though has an extended fishing period until the 30th of November (on Loch Leathan only).
Remember that there is no fishing on a Sunday.
The best of the Trout fishing is from April towards the end of June - then I spend most of my time guiding on the river for Salmon & Sea Trout (weather and water height dependent of course).
After the Scottish governments announcement yesterday, it's looking like visitors will be able to return to Skye from around the end of April (subject to restrictions). This really is great news that we've all been waiting for and it means that I will be able to guide for guests again during the peak months of the Trout season (so booking in advance will be important).
If you are interested in booking a guided day with me or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me for my availability.
